Herbally Ever After with Herbal Essences 40th Birthday Competition

When I was asked to write a post about Herbal Essences' 40th Birthday and their fantastic new special edition range, Herbally Ever After, I obviously started thinking about my own Herbal Essences experience. The first thing I worked out was that I have been using Herbal Essences for over 15 years. 15 YEARS!

So what makes Herbal Essences one of my longest and most loved brand relationships? Well, that's easy. I think my Herbal love affair started at school when a friend's hair smelt ridiculously good and I obviously copied them, or perhaps even more powerful to a 12 year old girl - a boy I fancied once said my hair smelt good. You will then obviously use Herbal Essences forever. Like me.

To celebrate their 40th year, Herbal Essences have released the gorgeous Herbally Ever After limited edition bottles. I've tried and tested the the new 'Breakage Defender Formula' shampoo and conditioner duo and really love it. I've put my regular Herbal Essences 'Beautiful Ends' on hold as I'm really loving the Herbally Ever After range. As always, the conditioner is my favourite thing about Herbal Essence as it's so rich and nourishing and seems to be the only brand that will nurture my dried, dyed ends without weighing my hair down. And check out the shine! I'm really impressed.

Now the fun bit! Herbal Essences want to hear all about your Herbal Essences memories - what was your best Herbal Essences hair day? When did you have your first Herbal moment? Have you used it as long as me?? Just leave your comment on this post before 13th March and you could be in with a chance to win one of these amazing prizes:

1st Prize- Cut & Blow Dry with Ben Cooke, Herbal’s celeb stylist, at Lockonego Salon in London

2nd Prize- a year’s supply of Herbal Essences Shampoo and Conditioner

3rd Prize- a Herbal Essences Hamper

2013 Oscars Best Dressed - Jessica Chastain, Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams

The Oscars have to be the ultimate excuse to dress up in the biggest and baddest gown your stylist can lay their hands on. So why do so many people dial back their look? Just look at the fabulous dresses on the red carpet at the 2010 Oscars. So few people opted for truly 'red carpet' dresses, but those who did 'wow' on the red carpet were Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence and Jessica Chastain.

Amy Adams' icy grey/blue full skirt, layered Oscar de la Renta gown looked fantastic on the red carpet and I LOVE that super cute picture above where she is pulling her husband into the photo. This is the type of dress we expect, no demand, from our red carpet queens - it's unashamedly big, princessy and elegant.

Jennifer Lawrence also went big, but in that dropped waist, almost fishtail, style she's been favouring on the red carpet. This Dior dress may be big, but it's beautifully understated in colour and detail. The only thing I wasn't sold on was the back-to-front necklace she wore down her back. But she can still do no wrong in my eyes!

Jessica Chastain is on a freakin' role - she's been getting top marks on all the red carpets recently and although she was one of the first on the red carpet at the Oscars, I was thinking about her look long after. It fit her perfectly and she does statuesque column shapes so well she looks perfectly relaxed and confident (she knows she looks fab!). The shimmering rose gold shade of the embellished Armani gown is perfect with her skin tone and hair too.

See You At Rick's - Future Cinema's 'Casablanca'

"Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she had to walk into mine."

Last Sunday I went to one of my favourite events. Ever! The long-running cinema experiential experience that is Future Cinema put on an amazing adaptation of one of the most iconic films of all time, Casablanca, and I was invited along.

Transporting you to Morocco in 1942 during World War II, you step off Commercial Street and into Rick’s Café Américain. You're met by the French Police who will frisk you for your identity papers while you queue. As you enter the building you'll be met by dancing girls, shady characters and more Fezes than you can shake a stick at.

You'll feel like you've stepped back in time as everyone, especially the guests, take the theme very seriously with an envy-enducing array of stunning 1940s vintage fashion, victories rolls and approximately 143 shades of red lipstick. I wore a kingfisher print tea dress from ASOS and a red lip from Boots' 17 range.

After a Moroccan feast at the Blue Parrot Café and several ridiculously lovely French 75 cocktails, you can place a bet on the roulette tables or grab that special someone and dance while the big band plays. Watch out for Nazis on the dance floor though, or you may get caught up in the crossfire. Seriously.

Then settle down around your candlelit table and watch one of the greatest cinematic love stories and quote along with Bogie as he reels off some of the Casablanca gems. Here's looking at you, kid. Sorry - it's catching.

With over 5,000 guests heading to Rick’s Café Américain in the coming weeks, Future Cinema has extended the sold-out run of their latest production – Casablanca – until March 23rd. Those who missed out on tickets will have the chance to catch one of the most iconic romances of all time in the iconic setting of The Troxy.

You've now got the chance to go and experience this yourself all through March, so if you're looking for a pay day treat and love a black and white romance I would definitely recommend.

Apply for your identity papers here, pray you get past the French Police and see you at Rick's: www.futurecinema.co.uk/tickets

'How To Wear' Spring Challenge - Bold Stripes

This Spring we've got some huge, daring and fun trends to look forward to and VoucherCodes.co.uk have challenged me again to come up with three outfits based on one of Spring's hottest trends - Bold Stripes.

I took part in a VoucherCodes.co.uk challenge a while ago about how to wear cashmere and the best places to buy cashmere on the highstreet, and loved doing it so was thrilled to be asked to take part in this challenge too. I'm a huge fan of stripes anyway, but I think after seeing the Marc Jacob's NYFW Spring 13 show we all got very, very excited about stripes.

Set to be THE trend of Spring/Summer 2013, stripes will come in many styles, colours, thicknesses and textures. The dominant stripe trend however is bold, graphic and monochrome and as you may have noticed already is all over the highstreet.

Shops doing stripes very well include New Look, River Island, Topshop, Zara and H&M. Mixing 60s silhouettes with a grungey, 90s vibe, these stripes are in your face and a far cry from classic Spring pastels and girly sundresses. I love that we're seeing a fresh approach to summer style and these hard working classics (when do stripes ever go out of style?!) will update your look for the coming season and many more.

Have I talked you into trying bold stripes yet? Great! Here's how I like to wear stripes and the three items I've bought to help create three seperate looks that won't require you to hit up your credit cards but will help you nail this season's hottest trend.

London Fashion Week AW13: Felder Felder, John Rocha and Sass & Bide

We're nearly half way through London Fashion Week AW13 and already some shows have gone to the top of the class. Topping the list of my favourite LFW shows has to be Felder Felder, John Rocha and Sass & Bide. Mainly because they delivered such gorgeous outerwear. From full skirted 50s style macs at Rocha to 70s inspired textured trench coats from Felder Felder, I have a whole host of coats and jackets that are on my wishlist.

Here are my favourite looks from my favourite shows at London Fashion Week so far. Roll on AW 13.

London Fashion Week AW13: Day 1

Day 1 of London Fashion Week AW13 was a whirlwind of great shows, street style trends, queuing, blogger events, even more queuing and navigating the huge crowds at Somerset House.

Judging from the catwalk and the cobbles at Somerset house, the trends that are here to stay for 2013 are the 90s (it appears you need a neon beanie and buffaloes asap), neons, metallics, statement prints, monochrome, ladylike tailoring, oversized pieces, cocoon shapes, 90s party dresses and all things grunge.

Here's my visual diary of my first day at London Fashion Week AW13, including Lug Von Siga, Belle Sauvage, Somerset House street style, The Apartment, New Look's Blogger Fashion Week Refuel Room and the Handpicked Media blogger suite. I'll be heading back to LFW today, so stay tuned for even more LFW coverage.

BAFTAs 2013 Red Carpet - Best Dressed

Column shapes ruled the red carpet at the 2013 EE British Academy Film Awards tonight. Braving the freezing temperature and the snow, some of the film world's biggest red carpet stars walked the BAFTAs red carpet in London (some with coats, some without!).

While there was lots of black on the red carpet, there were also bold pops of column colour in origami and inventively draped gowns which were my stand-out favourites. Jessica Chastain got my forgiveness after that over-exposed SAG Awards dress when she wore this regal blue, sleek Roland Mouret gown. It fits perfectly and couldn't be a better shade with her porcelain skin and auburn hair.

Marion Cotillard also showed how to push your style on the red carpet with this dramatically draped primrose yellow Christian Dior Couture gown, with a voluminous drape from the waist that may have put many off and left it on the catwalk alone. The yellow shade is beyond complementary to Marion and if anyone could have pulled this risqué look off, it's her.

Wearing black very well were Anne Hathaway and Gemma Arterton. Anne Hathaway continued her red hot red carpet streak with this Burberry studded t-shirt shape gown. This understated shape and detailing worked so well with her slightly grungy hair and kohl-heavy eyes. Gemma Arterton's striped, nude and black, asymmetric gown was simply stunning and this sleek and elegant style seemed to reign supreme at the 2013 BAFTAs.
