Milan Fashion Week Spring 2013 - Gucci

We may have moved on to Paris Fashion Week, but I'm still stuck on the Gucci spring 2013 show from Milan. A rainbow of sleek, elegant dresses, trouser suits and coats made up the Gucci collection that heralded a return to what they do best: sleek, sexy, cool.

The column dresses with neckline ruffles and the bell sleeve dresses and coats are just too elegant. The simple lines and block colours may not be what rocks some people's boats, but for me this is near perfection. I want a rainbow wardrobe, giant plastic jewels and a severe centre parting now, not in spring!

2012 Primetime Emmy Awards Red Carpet

The Primetime Emmys may be about celebrating the best that the small screen has to offer, but the red carpet at the 2012 ceremony was silver screen all the way. Jewel coloured floor length gowns were the look of the night, with origami sculptured folds and Greecian column dresses being popular trends.

Some of my favorite looks of the night came from some surprising sources. My absolute favourite red carpet style was from Padma Lakshmi in a simple yet striking orange Monique Lhuillier gown.

Of course Zooey Deschanel made my best dressed list in a powder blue creation in her usual vintage style with perfect hair and pink make-up. Tina Fey also rocked a Vivienne Westwood dress that may be my favourite ever red carpet look from one of my funniest ladies on TV.

Who was your favorite of the night?

New York Fashion Week Spring 2013 - Marc Jacobs

I wonder if Marc Jacobs ever gets bored of shaking up the fashion community. Just when we think we know what ladylike styles are coming, he throws us geometric prints in an almost caricature take on the ultimate 1960s women. Models took to the catwalk partly to show fashion and, quite clearly, partly as art.

Whether things were micro short or maxi long, they were covered in bold stripes or prints. The super-short micro minis (with matching pants!) in muted satin with clown-esque ruffs and collars were my favourite from the collection, especially the coffee coloured mini dress worn by one of NYFW's hardest working models, Cara Delevingne.

Yet another collection that feels ever so slightly more suited for autumn than spring, but what a collection! So different from the uber-feminine and pip-up styles we've seen elsewhere at New York Fashion Week Spring 2013, but so exciting. Hands up who wants a black and white striped maxi dress!

New York Fashion Week Spring 2013 - Zac Posen

Well, Zac Posen has to take the New York Fashion Week crown for most supermodels used in a single catwalk show. Not only did he have some of the worlds best known models, Naomi Campbell, Karolina Kurkova, Erin O'Connor, Crystal Renn, Coco Rocha, but he had looks that were so stylish and chic, even the famous faces wearing them couldn't detract any attention away from them.

The demure and feminine collection features fit-for-a-princess styles and silhouettes, focused around capped sleeve, knee length dresses with dramatic godets to create a accentuate hourglass shape. Much like Jason Wu's collection, Zac Posen is focused on waspish waists, peplums and accentuated shoulders, with gathered sleeves, square necklines and cape detailing to dresses and tops.

Next summer will be all about creating that pin-up shape, so curvy hourglass girls, this will be your season!

New York Fashion Week Spring 2013 - Jason Wu

If we look at Jason Wu's collection for New York Fashion Week Spring 2012, we see a very different vibe, aesthetic and, well, just about everything different to the collection he presented this week at New York fashion Week for Spring 2013. This collection takes a leaf from more vampy Autumn collections from the likes of Givenchy, Louis Vuitton, Badgley Mischka and Wu's own more dramatically dark Autumn 2012 collection, instead of the sugary hues and 50s inspired shapes we're used to seeing with Jason Wu Spring collection.

Bralette tops, high waisted shorts, cape dresses, pussy bows, mini-peplums, Cara Delevingne, super-sheers and leather, leather and leather!, that's what Jason Wu's delicious Spring 2013 collection is all about. Spring 2013 looks set to be chic, sharp and decadent.

Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens at Venice Film Festival 2012

venice film festival 2012 red carpet

The Venice Film Festival is one of my favourite red carpet events. It's often a chance for lesser known red carpet stars to make their satorical mark and show that, they too, can rock a red carpet like Hollywood Royalty. As at the Cannes Film Festival, there's usually an outsider or too who usually are slightly nonplus but seem to up their game and really style it up for a series of red carpet appearances.

It shocks me nearly as much as you'll be shocked to read this, but for me at the Venice Film Festival, my favourite looks have come from not one, but two former Disney stars. Teenage super-brands, Selena Gomez (Mrs Bieber) and Vanessa Hudgens. Both have looked absolutely gorgeous on the red carpet and at press events promoting their film, 'Spring Breakers'.

At the Venice Film Festival premiere, Selena wore a striking powered pink Versace Atelier gown and Vanessa wore an art deco inspired Temperley London gown, which she accessorised with a stunning gold clutch. And not to leave their 'best' on the red carpet, both showed serious style potential at day press events. Vanessa Hudgens' black and white Blumarine floral dress was both classic and fresh, and although a typical older style, really looked elegant on her, while Selena Gomez's baroque Dolce & Gabbana dress was vampish and while classic, was slightly more grown-up-sexy than we usually see from her. I think it's exciting to see these two blossom into their style, and have already loved some of their Toronto Film Festival looks.

And even more exciting is the fact that I'll be in Venice myself in 3 short days!

AW 2012 Trends: Fix Up, Look Sharp

What's the easiest, simplest way to get your outfit looking AW ready? Throw on a blazer! I'm loving my new Dark Green Ponte Blazer from New Look, and what I'm loving even more is the colour combo of dark green and burgundy.

I told you about my love affair with stripes and polka dots, which I became a bit obsessed with after seeing the gorgeous Solange Knowles for Madewell AW 2012, but I'm always a fan of an easy to wear blazer (you know how I feel about preppy!). And surely the best thing about AW has to be the chance to prep it up with gorgeous layers and flattering tailoring?!

This burgundy polka dot dress from Primark has been a firm favourite since last year, and I'll be wearing it again this year with tailored blazers, oversized knitwear and layered over polo neck long sleeve shirts. And I think the blazer is also going to get a lot of wear over the coming months.

How do you fix up, look sharp?
