My London Fashion Week AW 2012 Highlights

I'm not feeling very wordy tonight, so here's my visual* diary of some of my favourite bits from London Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2012. From Somerset House icons to Vauxhall Fashion Scout style blazers, this season at LFW was very exciting and saw some great fashion come back to the capital.

There's also a pic of me and my London Fashion Week wardrobe, including my new Zatchels satchel. Zatchels kindly sent me a bag after my bag got stolen, and it was perfect for fashion week.

2012 Oscars Best Dressed - Gwyneth Paltrow, Michelle Williams and Angelina Jolie

I was really excited to see what was worn on the red carpet at the 2012 Oscars, especially after all the beautiful dresses on show at Paris Couture Fashion Week, but I was left slightly disappointed that no one really worked the huge, statement, princess style dresses that can only work, and are usually worn, at the Oscars.

My out and out winner of the battle of the red carpet has to be Gwyneth Paltrow, who looked pristine in a white Tom Ford column dress and cape. I don't think Gwynie's ever looked so chic and elegant. Sleek hair and a little bit of sparkle finishes this polished red carpet look.

Most adorable and pretty on the red carpet has to go to Michelle Williams who wowed in red Louis Vuitton. Hundreds of delicate frills made up this peplum skirted dress with a structured bodice. I also love the addition on the pink clutch bag, as pink and red is my all time favourite colour clash.

Some people have been mocking Angelina's Jolie posing at the Oscars, including people on stage at the awards (!), but let's give it to her, she was playing the vixen last night and working the heck out of this black velvet Verscae dress. A bit less of her right leg may have been an improvement, but her hair and make-up were flawless.

The BRIT Awards 2012 Red Carpet: Best Dressed

I've got loads more London Fashion Week posts for you, but let's take a red carpet break and look at the best of The BRIT Awards 2012 red carpet. I hate to jump on the Lana Del Ray bandwagon, *cough* Mulberry *cough*, but you can't deny how hot to trot she looks in this elegant Vivienne Westwood red dress. The relaxed hair and minimal jewellery lets this near-perfect dress do all the work.

I'm not always a huge Kylie fan (although I loved her 25 years, 25 designers piece in Stylist last week), but I just love the colour of this YSL column dress. The only thing that would have made it better is if it was taken up a bit and didn't crumple on the floor.

Another red dress on the red carpet tonight, and Jessie J looked great (if a bit on the naked side). She has a cracking figure, but sometimes I wish we saw a bit less of it. Still, I love the drama of this look, and it really reminds me of the red dress Rihanna wore to the American Music Awards in 2010.

How can I not include Adele?! Aside from the plain but pretty Burberry dress, the killer Dallas hair and great jewellery, she's going to win every other award tonight, so why not be one of my best dressed? I'm sure she'd be thrilled to know she's made my best dressed list and it's probably her main achievement to date, *ahem*.

London Fashion Week AW 2012 - Francesca Marotta

Francesca Marotta was my first show of London Fashion Week AW 2012, and first things first, let's talk about this years My Beautiful City location. Set in the heart of London's business centre the Goldsmith's Hall, near St Paul's, was a beautiful setting for London Fashion Week and left lots of suits befuddled at the fashionistas (mainly their outfits and/or hair) queuing for shows.

The Francesca Marotta AW 12 show was all about drama. Inspired by Sicily, religion and mourning this show certainly packed a punch and fitted the dramatic ballroom setting. Red and black lace was teamed with beautiful tailored pieces and neon perspex jewellery.

Will we see perspex thorn necklaces and crowns in AW 2012?

London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2012 - Jena.Theo

London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2012 - Jena.Theo
Anyone who loves a statement top teamed with super-skinny jeans will love the latest offering from design duo Jena.Theo. Their AW 2012 London Fashion Week show was entitled 'Heavy Metal' and was a stripped back offering for 'the modern woman'.

Working with what they know best, beautiful prints and wearable, draped shapes, this collection from Jena.Theo was beautiful and very covetable. My favourite pieces were the fringed tops (what girl can say no to a bit of fringing?!), which were elegant and simple. The accompanying denim that was with each look was understated, but very intricate when you delved a little deeper. interesting rouching and cut out shapes on the hem made these skinnies extra special.

London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2012 - Mattijs

London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2012 - Mattijs
I'm going to start my London Fashion Week coverage with one of my favourite shows at LFW autumn winter 2012, Mattijs. When it's stated that a collection takes inspiration from Princess Leia in Star Wars and Artreyu from The Never Ending Story, you can bet that you'll be taken out of the catwalk show and on a sci-fi fashion adventure.

While the tailored pieces were beautiful, what really stole the show was the elegant and dreamy dresses, that flowed in blue, green and mint shades and with exquisite pleats. Mixed with sci-fi style jewellery, slicked back hair and United Nude footwear, everything had a futuristic feel, in beautiful, bold colours (and Star Wars music!) making this collection fun and beautiful.

New York Fashion Week AW 2012 - Badgley Mischka

My favourite shows of New York Fashion Week AW 2012 have all had one thing is common; they've been deliciously opulent and a little bit dark. Badgley Mischka's, much like Jason Wu's, collections featured deep, luxe colours and plush fabrics to convey a slightly sinister impression of 1930s Hollywood.

Badgley Mischka's collection had me at 'hello' with a stunning first look, a jewel-encrusted full length gown. The velvet, lace, heavy silk satins and fur accents sealed the deal and this collection had me falling head over heels in love. And don't even get me started on the curly, crazed hair and bold berry lip. I freaking love it.

With a hint of 'ageing golden era movie heroine superstar' (yeah, that's a thing, ok??), this collection looks like it should be in soft focus, and shot in black and white. I can't pick a favourite look, it's that good. It's collections like this that remind you why you love clothes so darn much.

New York Fashion Week AW 2012 - Jason Wu

The fashion week merry-go-round is back in town, and the New York Fashion Week AW 2012 shows are more appropriate than ever as we're all wrapped up against the sub-zero temperatures. One of my favourite shows so far was Jason Wu. I loved Jason Wu's SS 12 show, which had a modern, candy and neon coloured, Oscar de le Renta feel.

If I were to sum up this collection in one word it would be 'opulent'. Mixing military outerwear, luxurious fur and seriously slinky dresses, this collection was inspired by Chinese culture and Old Hollywood. On paper this could have looked dated and overdone, but with Jason Wu's touch it looked fresh, dramatic and wearable. Opium den chic.

Operation Replace Stolen Bag

If ever there was a valid reason to go bag shopping, it's having your bag stolen. Seen as a class-a a%&$le decided to relieve me of my handbag (and all my belongings in said bag) last Friday, I've decided to cheer myself up and buy a gorgeous new bag for spring summer 2012. And don't panic, it wasn't my new Mulberry bag, but my beloved New Look raspberry satchel.

Not one to usually buy a seasonal specific or trend dictated bag, I figured if there was a time to purchase a bag frivolously without any thought to it's shelf life, this is it. So here is my shortlist of my favourite bags, and I just HAVE to buy one as a replacement (are you buying that excuse? No, neither is anyone else.)

Miss Selfridge (green satchel an blue suede bag)

New Look (doctors bag and grey box bag)

Decision time. Which bag shall I buy?
