Halston Heritage at My-Wardrobe

The 70s trend just isn't going away (this pleases me), and legendary 70s label, Halston, is still leading the pack with the latest Halston Heritage collection at My-Wardrobe.com.

Halston Heritage My Wardrobe 70s style dresses

Gone are the sequins and metallics, in with the sleek and simple for this collection. In a mix of fresh brights and grungy, putty shades, boldly knotted and belted, the dresses just scream sophistication and laid back sexiness (think die sehr schöne Diane Kruger). The Goddess dresses and the Sleeveless Pleated dress are my favourites on My-Wardrobe, but I really love them all.

Cannes 2011 - Best Dressed

It's official, May is my new favourite month for fabulous red carpet fashion. After some beautiful looks at the Met Gala - Alexander McQueen event, we've now had the Cannes Film Festival 2011 red carpet to keep us entertained and drooling over dresses.

Cannes is, to me, all about the mega stars (no Z listers in site). It's evokes stylish bygone eras, conjouring images of Liz Taylor and Brigette Bardott leaving fans and journalists begging for more at press calls and on the red carpet. Last year, Cate Blanchett captured my heart (doesn't she always?!) in lady-like Armani Prive suits by day and regal, red carpet looks from McQueen at night.

Some stars were on their top game at Cannes 2011. Rachel McAdams wowed in very different looks, pure and pretty in white, to vampish and sultry in red lace.

Fan Bingbing has really carved out a solid reputation as a Red Carpet Queen, and in a series of regal gowns she owned the red carpet, as has Li Bing Bing, who also looked like a poised princess on the red carpet.

Cannes judge, Uma Thurman, delivered one gorgeous look after another during the 2 week festival, with her most successful being the royal blue, body skimming, button-back dress.

Another actress who never fails to impress on the red carpet is Zoe Saldana, who always brings her best pose and 'gives good face'. Her red and white Armani Prive stripe dress gave me palpitations - I LOVE it.

Très bien, Cannes!

New Look Style the Nation for AW 11

New Look Style The Nation T4

New Look kept me thoroughly entertained well fed and watered last week. First was their amazing New Look Style the Nation launch party for there new fashion show on channel 4, fronted by Radio 1 and T4 presenter Nick Grimshaw.

New Look Style The Nation T4 party

The innovative and unique partnership between New Look and Channel 4 celebrates the style and creativity of everyday girls and guys up and down the country, with one lucky stylista bagging a dream job as a New Look stylist.

The series, fronted by Nick Grimshaw, will see the fashion-savvy DJ help the ‘Style Panel', made up of award winning British designer Giles Deacon and New Look Group Creative Director Barbara Horspool, scour five cities looking for the uber-stylish to compete for the London based stylist job, creating hot looks for the fashion chains' TV, print and online campaigns.

New Look Style The Nation T4 party

I spent the night with some of my favourite bloggers (and met some other lovelies) and we danced and drank in what we affectionately named the Blogger Pen - *somehow* we ended up next to the male models! If the show is as good as the party (and the Hoxton Gin cocktails they served) you're in for a real treat!

The next day I dragged my gin and champagne induced hangover (along with the rest of me) to the AW 11 New Look Press Day. As this post is very image heavy, I won't waffle on for too long, but I will say this has to be the strongest New Look collection to date.

New Look Style The Nation AW 11 press lady like luxe

Every mini collection had such a strong identity and style, with nods Lady-like Luxe, high end designer fashion, the glossy 70s look from the AW catwalks and preppy street style. It was hard to pick a favourite collection, let alone one look.

'Northern Tribe' looked so cosy with a mix of Nordic and preppy knits in warm, tonal shades. The 'Age of Nostalgia' had a Boardwalk Empire feel, with luxe embellishment, dropped waist and cut out details. The sexy cut out backs were especially understated and alluring.

The clothes were so beautiful and lust-worthy, I had to remind myself to look around the display of shoes, bags and accessories (normally my first port of call at New Look). I can't believe I'm typing this, but roll on AW 11!

Stylish Toes at the Tabio Bloggers Event

Tabio Bloggers Event ankle ruffs and vitamin water

If you dream about socks, legwarmers, tights, stockings and pretty much anything else you can think of to adorn your legs, ankles and feet, then you need to know about Tabio.

Tabio is a Japanese sock speciality store producing the highest quality hosiery available. Crafted by the hands of artisans and blended with the finest yarns to create peerless comfort.

From the whir of the embroidery machine, to the scent of tatami drifting through the air, a visit to Tabio is a magical experience. Specialists in hosiery, be prepared to be dazzled with a stunning collection of beautifully crafted socks and tights, providing comfort you will never forget.
There are Tabio stores dotted around London, but last week's bloggers event was held at their
spacious High Street Kensington store. Greeted by lots of Tabio experts, we were shown around the wonderful world of Tabio. There is so much to take in, and Danielle, Ree and myself 'Oooed' and 'Ahhed' around the huge selection of socks, tights and ankle trinkets.

The quality is plain to see, and I can see that this new sock obsession will slowly get worse, until I own most of Tabio! To start my new collection, we were generously given a ticket which we could swap for any item in store. After much debating, Ree and I both opted for the gorgeous bow ankle cuffs, while Danielle picked some cosy leg warmers.

P&G Summer Spa Event - Win a Goody Bag

Like clearing out your winter wardrobe to make way for summery dresses and gorgeous sandals, your beauty routine needs a shake up for the summer days too. This can be daunting if you're not really sure what your bare legs look like after months in tights, or how to switch from the rich moisturiser you needed in winter to brace those Arctic winds, to a moisturiser you need now that will combat that 'commuter sheen' from the blisteringly hot train with broken air-con.That's where the P&G Summer Spa Event can help!

P&G Summer Spa Event Caroline Barnes for Max Factor, Ben Cooke for Herbal Essences and Nichola Joss for Venus & Braun

The P&G Summer Spa Event on the 2nd June is where all ten of P&G’s brand ambassadors will be answering YOUR questions and doing live tutorials about beauty and grooming, including Caroline Barnes for Max Factor, Ben Cooke for Herbal Essences and Nichola Joss for Venus & Braun. What makes this event so great is that they will be answering your questions, and you can ask the best in the business absolutely anything!

To have your say, vote for your favourite questions below (mine would definitely be how to achieve the glamorous holiday up-do) and at the event you'll get your answers from the beauty and grooming gurus.

If the question you'd like to ask isn't listed below, just leave it as a comment on this post and on the day of the event it may be picked and answered as a 'Wildcard'. If your question is picked you'd win a P&G goody bag - you lucky devil! So be sure to leave your contact details too. I'd have to ask how to get my make-up to last all day (and night) during the summer months (it must be possible).

Come back to this post after the 2nd June to find out if you're one of the lucky (and soon to be very well groomed) winners. Good luck!

Additional Notes: If you'd like to find out what questions were asked, if your question was answered, and loads of great beauty and grooming advice, just watch the Spa Event here (you have to register to view).

Hand Picked Fashion Finds at QRATED.com

If, like me, you wished you had the patience (and resources) to trawl through vintage hideaways, boutiques and designer wonderlands the world over to find that new, hot fashion find, you will praise the fashion gods for the new fashion site, QRATED.com.

Each day they'll bring you a new 'fashion find', only available for 24 hours (or until it sells out). Each item will include details about the designer, information about its origins and very cool styling suggestions. It's a great chance to support new design talents, as the designers involved include both new emerging talent and well-known names, with some pieces created especially for QRATED. With finds from the likes of New York, Paris, Hong Kong, London, Delhi and Finland, this really offers you a chance to buy fashion globally.

Membership is free, but limited, so I suggest you sign up now so you don't miss a rare gem. The site launches on 15th June and I can't wait to see the first fashion find. But if you can't wait, their blog is really great for style ideas and gives a taster of what you can expect from the site AND they're giving away a free iPad2 when you pre-register on facebook (my friend won an iPad2 the other day - it does happen!).

New British Design Talent - Gallery 4

What's better than finding a new label you just L-O-V-E? I'll tell you what - finding a new label that you love which offers vintage inspired, beautiful clothes that have been designed and manufactured in the UK. That's probably why I'm loving Gallery 4 so much.

This fresh and exciting label has been set up by two young designers, Louise Rhodes & Amy Moreton, and promises premium fashion at affordable prices. With simple silhouettes and an ethereal East London vibe, it draws comparisons to Australian labels StyleStalker and Sass & Bide.

With a newly launched Gallery 4 asos marketplace boutique, I would recommend snapping up these key pieces from their latest collection, 'Second Skin', before someone else does. But hands off the Printed Pocket Maxi - that's mine!

‘Second Skin’ is their debut collection fusing 1920’s men’s tailored pieces in pale pastels with a contrasting dark and detailed print. Draped silk T-shirts and pleated dresses mix perfectly with fitted blazers that give this collection a truly modern feel, yet still remains feminine.

Harvey Nichols - Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty

With the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibition at the New York Metropolitan Museum Retrospective open honouring Lee McQueen's life and design talents, and the amazing launch in his honour at the Met Gala last week, us McQueen fans on the other side of the pond were starting to feel a bit left out.

Thankfully Harvey Nichols have launched their own commemorative windows for the UK fans at their London Knightsbrige store. With a beautiful selection of McQueen designs dating back to the 90s, these windows are well worth a look whether you're a learned fan of his work or a new admirer.
As the only U.K store to be chosen for such a prestigious honour, we are immensely proud to be able to support, posthumously, one of the U.K’s most talented designers with our own homage of catwalk pieces that date back to SS99. http://ow.ly/4NJnU

The Alexander McQueen windows will remain in place until the end of May at our Knightsbridge store.
