London Fashion Week A/W 2011 - Christopher Beales - When The Crystal Crack'd
When Christopher Beales showcased his first collection, When The Crystal Crack'd, at London Fashion Week it was definitely an occasion for friends and family to come together and celebrate his triumph. The welcome was warm even though it was freezing cold outside, a glass of complimentary champagne can never go amiss!
The word 'Cracked' was a clever way of summing up the disjointed scene: a white canvas, an innovative and industrious structure displaying very theatrical and striking garments, all surrounded by a quirky selection of people. From a distance, the clothes you could see were very bold, with asymmetric angles, but on closer inspection you see the perfection and detail that these garments were crafted with, and softer ballet style and draped skirts. It's not a surprise to see this level of craftsmanship when you look at Beales credentials; he has worked with Matthew Williamson and Alexander McQueento name a few.
