London Fashion Week A/W 2011 - Mark Fast
I bet you were expecting to see a sexy knitted dress when you saw that this was a report on Mark Fast's AW 2011 collection, didn't you? Well, don't get me wrong, you will see plenty of those (and very nice too), but Fast put a spin on things and also sent very cleverly crafted leather pieces down the catwalk at his show yesterday.
The collection had a raw energy to it, with huge, bouncing wool coats and jackets, and spiralling, split maxi dresses, which perfectly captured Fast's message, 'A wolf in sheep's clothing.' The leather pieces matched this, but also had a distinct S&M feel, with buckles, straps, constricting necks, lace up details and long gloves and boots. The beautiful Louboutins on the catwalk also upped the kinky considerably.
Putty and cream were mixed with lots of black and, one of the hottest colours at London Fashion Week, red, bringing together a simple colour palette that let the cut and fabric do the talking.
The front row was jam-packed with celeb fans including VV Brown, Nat and Leah Weller, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Jo Wood, Janice Dickenson and Maria Diamondis (Marina and the Diamonds).
I really liked that while Fast kept certain things the same; sexy dresses, models in all shapes and sizes and lots of knit, he also tried to incorporate something completely different with the leather. One thing's for sure, it was still bloody sexy.
