The Best of London Fashion Week Spring 2011
Another day, another fashion week city. Today brings us back to London Fashion Week. Following on from the little task I set myself on Wednesday to pick one designer's Spring 2011 collection from each of the four main Fashion Week cities, so far we have Marc Jacobs for New York Fashion Week and today I look at LFW.
It's so hard to pick a favourite, as naturally, I have an affinity with LFW and the designers that show here, so it's EVEN harder to pick just one! Especially with such strong collections from Basso & Brooke, with their beautiful prints and strong shapes (ombre peg leg trousers you will be mine!), Burberry's biker, belted chic and beautiful and creative tailoring with pops of bright colour (Gok Wan and Kim Kardashian must have been in waist belt heaven), Sass & Bide, with their ruffs and softer amazonian collection, and Holly Fulton with in your face yellow and graphic prints (she was so nearly my numero uno). But, my top pick of LFW was Erdem. His use of lace, florals, delicate embellishment, bright reds, peter pan collars, romantic silhouettes and amazing ballerina style Nicholas Kirkwood shoes all put a huge smile on my face.
London Fashion Week was all about powerful/feminine shapes, waists, sharp prints, fresh colours, including yellow, burnt orange, red, fresh greens, bright blues and aqua all mixed with a neutral palette.
